The objective of the project ADA (Artiste-Designer-Architect Project) was to discover an artist, designer, or architect whose creative process and drawing style are particularly inspiring. I chose Alain Carle, architect and founder of Alain Carle Architecte (Montreal, 2000). He is known for his refined approach to urban and architectural design in both residential and commercial sectors. I was particularly drawn to the originality of his conceptual work and the simplicity and clarity of his sketches.
For the project, I reproduced three sketches based on Alain Carle’s creations OHBE and La Héronnière, focusing on observing and replicating his graphic style and choice of medium. I then created an original pastiche inspired by his project Les Elfes, applying his minimalist and atmospheric sketching style to develop a personal interpretation.
This exercise allowed me to deeply understand the role of quick sketching in the creative development of architectural ideas, emphasizing how simplicity can convey complexity and spatial nuance.
