For this project I explored clay as material and applied three different techniques: deformation, subtraction, and addition. Using the technique of addition, I repeated a simple form in various sizes to create a gentle, fluid movement. The resulting six clay tiles generate an intriguing play of light and shadow, regardless of how the mosaic is arranged, due to the relief and orientation of the shapes.
An illusion of depth is emphasized by the refined edges of the peaks, which contrast with the heavy base of the repeated forms. While each tile is simple and individual, the combined arrangement of the six tiles reveals a thoughtful result that suggests movement and fluidity.
