The goal of this exercise was to explore how the materials, volumes, and shapes interact to create spaces, thereby developing a spatiality in harmony with materiality. This model creates intersecting effects between the curves of concave and convex spaces, where empty voids are found. These voids then guide the viewer’s eye, creating a passage into the material’s interior.
Through the manipulation of volume and negative space, the design plays with perception, drawing attention to both the absence and the mass within the structure. The rhythmic alternation between solid and empty spaces creates a dynamic flow, inviting the viewer to move around the piece and experience its transition from openness to solidity.
Ultimately, this project embodies the concept of balance between presence and absence, solid and void, creating a dynamic and immersive spatial experience.
